“It was a total pleasure working with Rabbi Oliver as the rabbi for our wedding. We had multiple sessions in the run-up to the ceremony where we learnt about some of the differences between traditional marriage and partnership ceremonies. When we told my mother about it, she wished she had the choice back when she got married! As one of the earliest gay marriages within the Masorti movement in the UK, we felt entirely included in the generational history that comes with publicly announcing one’s union to the community. Rabbi Oliver was the perfect fit for us, as we struggled to find a place in the Jewish community. He made us feel included and celebrated, not merely tolerated. All the non-Jews attending our wedding appreciatedRabbi Oliver’s explanations during the ceremony, and all the Jews were surprised to hear that our ceremony was his first as a qualified rabbi. We would definitely recommend working with Rabbi Oliver as your rabbi, as he offers a personal and progressive take on this ancient Jewish ceremony”

“Rabbi Oliver was a delight to work with in preparation of our wedding. We first met one another around Rabbi Oliver’s Shabbat table (for which we are eternally grateful!) and we have continued to be part of the community that he is creating-the Havurah. When preparing for our wedding we worked together with him on the wording of our egalitarian ketubah (marriage contract) and the running order of our service. He listened carefully to our wishes, helping us make the ceremony representative of us and meaningful to us and our families. We were honoured that he officiated at our ceremony alongside Rabbi Wittenberg. We appreciated his open, thoughtful and personal approach again when we asked him to help us with the brit (circumcision)and naming ceremony of our first child, a son-especially as we were feeling very nervous about it. We wholeheartedly recommend his services as a rabbi, his kind, thoughtful and meaningful approach to Judaism, which has helped us to maintain tradition while keeping it relevant to our lives.”

“Rabbi Oliver is such a knowledgeable, spiritual guide with a caring attitude. He guided us through the rituals involved in setting up a Jewish ceremony and all the steps before and after the chuppah. There was no question too small for him and he approached the task at hand with kindness and serenity.”
